| W243 runs under the footbridge at Ballarat East with a single oil tank for the fuel depots at Eureka. |
Today W243 is on the Eureka pilot with single oil pot for the fuel depots situated at the terminus. There are no regular scheduled trains on the Eureka line, with trains only running as required. Trains to Eureka usually use a Y or W class on yard pilot duties in Ballarat yard with loading usually one or two oil pots.

| W243 returns from Eureka with two empty oil pots. These will be shunted in Ballarat yard and added to overnight goods. |
On the layout I have only modelled the Eureka line from the junction at Ballarat East to under the Queen Street bridge, the line then continues into the hidden fiddle yard. When I operate Eureka trains the loco will haul the wagons down the line to behind the backscene. Here it will sit for a while whilst I operate timetabled trains, to represent the time taken to run to Eureka and perform the shunting. The loco will then run around the wagons using the hidden loops and return to Ballarat back along the Eureka line.
