As the harvest approaches, grain wagons that have been stored at various locations around the state are being returned to service.

At 11:58am on Monday 5th November 1984, T386 with a ZMF guards van ran out to Smythesdale and Linton on the Skipton branchline to retrieve 9 stored GY's. With speed restrictions on the branch the train didn't arrived back in Ballarat to 5:36pm.

These wagons have actually been stored on the layout within Bunge's Garden City Flour Mill at Ballarat North. The mill includes 4 hidden sidings, as an extension of the Shell Oil siding that I use to store wagons not used regularly like ballast hoppers and bug huts. Over winter one of these hidden sidings is a temporary home for a rake of GY's.
