Early morning on Monday 8th October 1984, C503 was rostered on an extra to Geelong consisting of 34 GY's and ZLP. At 2.16am C503 idles away near Ballarat East Box. C503 will shortly commence the climb up Warrenheip bank.

Bernie Baker responded to my recent post on C503's first run to Ballarat in V/Line colours on the 7th October 1984 indicating that he was fireman on C503 the following day, Driver was Fred Nelson. Bernie indicated that they changed over at North Geelong and that the train then went to Melbourne.
