B81 heads west

On the 21st August 1984, B81 was noted heading west on the 9121 Melbourne - Adelaide Express Goods behind C507 and S305. B81 had been stripped of parts and was on its way to Clyde's Rosewater plant for rebuilding from an ML2 to AAT22C-2R. B81 is the only B in VicRail's tea-cup colours to be sent to South Australia for rebuilding.

B81 will be last B class rebuilt, as the originally planned rebuilding of all 26 B class has been abandoned in favour of adding another 15 new locomotives to the already placed order for 10 new N class.
