Bungaree Loop

Y150 sits in the departure sidings in Ballarat yard with a works train to Bungaree Loop.

Earthworks for the new crossing loop located between Wallace and Bungaree stations is nearing completion. On Sunday 24th July 1984, Y150 was rostered to run rail and sleepers out to the work site for the installation of the mainline turnouts and pick up materials leftover from the loops construction. While these works were occurring Western line trains were diverted via North Geelong. It is expected that the loop will be commissioned in the next couple of months, once signalling is completed.

Y150 departs Ballarat with a works special to the crossing loop being built between Wallace and Bungaree. The train consists of a VFAA loaded with rail and 2 x VOWA. The empty VOWA will be used to transport materials left over from the loops construction.
