On the 20th March 1984, C501 on 9146 Adelaide-Melbourne Express Goods snakes through Ballarat yard with A71 and A73 dead attached. A71 was on its delivery run to Victoria while A73 was on second trip from Adelaide as it had been returned to Clyde Engineering for modifications.
A73 had originally been delivered to Victoria on 21st December 1983, following its rebuild from an ML2 to AAT22C-2R. A73 sat at Dynon for most of January before test runs to Wallan on 27th January 1984 and then to Bendigo on a pass with B76 on the 28th January 1984. Cab noise, vibration and other issues saw A73 returned to Clyde's Rosewater plant in late February for further attention. A71 is the second B class to be rebuild.
C501 towing A71 and A73 on 9146 passes W250 on pilot duties in Ballarat yard. |
