Full house at Ballarat East Loco

The rail strike by rail unions resulted in an almost full house at Ballarat East Locomotive Depot and a congested Ballarat yard.

Present around the turntable are Y150, Y151, Y152, X32, T386, B61, T331 and T401, with T381 in the maintenance shed and W250, W243, T321, T332 and T356 at the fuel point.

Y150, Y151, Y152 and X32 shutdown and stabled around the turntable

W250, W243, T321, T332 and T356 at the fuel point.

Within Ballarat's yard a number of grain trains were stabled. These trains had been halted at Ballarat as they wouldn't have reached there destination by midnight on the 4th December 1983.

Rake of GH's and GY's stabled in arrival and departure sidings in Ballarat's yard.

With talks between the rail union's and Victorian Government's on the proposed closure of 24 regional freight centres having failed, the strike action looks likely to continue for some time.
