At 1145 B81 departs Ballarat on 8134 pass. |
With roster N12, the 8145 pass on Fridays was formed by set/run no.13, one of 4 sets listed as CE-AE-BEL-BEL-BEL (runs 13 to 16) that mainly ran Geelong and Bacchus Marsh services. Roster N12 remained in place until the end of April 1983. During March and early April 1983 these four sets were recorded in Newsrail with the following consists:

On Black Thursday 31st March 1983 these sets were used on the following services:
10CW-30AE-44BE-16BE
This set arrived at Spencer St from Kyneton behind B81, the loco ran around the set to form 1713 service to South Geelong. It arrived back at Spencer Street at 1955, the loco ran around to form the 2045 service to Bendigo.
5CW-28AE-2BW-39BE-8AW
At 1740 this set formed a service to Geelong behind B64, returning at 2023, the loco ran around to form 2130 departure to Bacchus Marsh.
33CE-24AE-26BE-33BE-57BE
It arrived at Spencer Street on the Bacchus Marsh service at 1746, behind B68. The loco ran around the set to form the 1810 service to Geelong. It arrived back at Spencer Street as an empty working at 2055 and was used to form another Geelong service departing at 2230.
24CE-13AE-30BE-2BE-36BE
This set arrived at Spencer Street behind B72 from Geelong at 1535, the loco ran around to form 1600 departure to South Geelong. It arrived back at Spencer Street at 1900, with the cars then forming the 1930 service to Ballarat behind B76.
The AE and BE's are Steam Era Models kits, CW10 is a Blue and Gold Models body with a Steam Era Models roof, bogies and underframe details.

On the layout this set is usually only utilised on the Friday night 8145 and Saturday morning 8134 pass. For variation I will substitute the CW for a blue CE or orange 33CE and often add a BW or AW to the set as fourth car reflecting the make-up of the 3 other sets at this time.
