65th anniversary of S307 entering service

S307 and T356 cross MacArthur Street with a block grain working to Dunolly.

Yesterday S307 celebrated the 65th anniversary of its entry to service on the 10th December 1957. Named "John Pascoe Fawkner", S307 was readily distinguished from the other members of the class as it was the  whistle mounted on its nose.

S307 and S305 depart Ballarat on an Down Dimboola pass.

S307 is one of 7 S classes on the roster on the layout.  Usually I used a pair of S's back to back on the up or down Overland. The other S's share duties with the X class on Dimboola passenger trains and are regularly rostered on Express goods and on grain trains in multiple with other classes of locomotives.

Back to Back S303 and S307 rumble over the junction of the Serviceton and Maryborough lines with the Up Overland.

S307-S311 coast downgrade through Ballarat East with Melbourne - Adelaide Express Goods.

During 1983, S307 was rather filthy during this period sporting an overall covering of road grime and an oil stain on the side of the body and the fuel tank.

S307 awaits departure time at Albury station. Consist is CW-5AZ-2MBS-3BZ-70BWL 2/01/83.
