Signal post 21B was situated at the Melbourne end of platform 1 at Ballarat Station. This post had a combination of arms and discs and was situated directly behind timber semaphore post 21. In early photos these arms and discs appear to have been mounted on the same timber post.
On post 21B the top arm is the up home to the up passenger line, bottom arm is the up home to No.1 A Rd, the left disc is to goods departure point 'X' or Siding Y and the right disc is to the goods track or loco track.
The arms and lens are made from photos scaled to the correct size in Photoshop and then printed onto clear adhesive label which is then stuck onto 20thou styrene sheet.
The post is made out of 10thou, 20thou and 40thou styrene sheet with brass wire for the details. The fence is Ratio GWR station fencing, with which I have tried to replicate its lean to the south.
I still need to weather the posts and fencing to replicate the grime shown in the prototype photos. I'm trialing a few different methods to build the signals for Ballarat station and yard. Next on list is disc post 16, post 20 on platform 2 and the signal gantries at each end of the station.
B65 waits departure time on Platform 1 at Ballarat station.
