942's second visit to Victoria

Australian Nationals 942 second visit to Victoria occurred on 17th October 1983 when it trailed C509 and C506 on 9130 Express Goods. It had previously visited Victoria in August 1983 as a prelude to the introduction of through running of the 930s with Xs on the Overland. Its seen here passing Ballarat East Locomotive Depot on its way to Melbourne.
This trial included running a Bendigo passenger on the 3rd November 1983 and a period based at Ararat loco depot for crew training. It was noted sitting on one of the turntable roads at Ararat on the 26th and 29th October 1983.I'm not sure if this period at Ararat included trips to Ballarat, but on the model railway it will make a couple of appearances over the next few weeks on Ballarat and Horsham passenger trains and on good services on the western line.
Through running of 930s didn't commence until late November when the X/930 combination started to be employed on the Overland. Use of 930s on Jets didn't commence until January 1984.
