Trouble at the mill, flour mill shunt gone pear shaped! Y151 on the Flour Mill Pilot and a VHGY derailed one bogie each at the Doveton Street end of the Flour Mill sidings. After much cursing between the crew, assist was called for. Luckily the derailment didn't foul the Doveton Street level crossing or the adjoining mainline.
Both Y151 and VHGY 264 had a bogie in the dirt. |
After a short wait, a crew turned up to start jacking the wagon and locomotive back onto the rails. T356 was also dispatched from Ballarat East loco depot to assist with the rerailing operation.
T356 arrives to assist with the rerailing operation. |
The above scenes were inspired by a Facebook post by Noel Michael about a similar incident at the Flour Mill sidings in 1996.
Excellent when we slow down the running of the layout through a small mishap. Thanks
