Generic Industry

At Redan between the Flour Mill and Freezer Sidings I have created a generic industry. The short siding runs into a small compound surrounded by a cyclone wire fence.  The siding can hold 2 bogie wagons.

Originally the siding was going to serve a oil depot with the rail siding and discharge pipes modelled (the storage tanks and shedding being off the modelled portion of the layout). But after laying the tracks and running a few Redan pilots I decide to switch the oil depot to north of the flour mill, closer to where an oil siding existed at Redan. Rather than remove the track I have left it in place and have been using to receive deliveries of pipes. To facilitate the uploading of pipes I have painted up an excavator, removing the bucket and replacing them with grab claws.  I'm not sure if it will remain in this format, but until I change my mind I'll continue to enjoy shunting the siding delivering pipes for replacement of a water main in the Ballarat area. The photo's below show the siding being shunted.

21RT shunts an empty Q wagon out of the siding. 2 x AFBX are awaiting to be shunted into the siding.

An AFBX awaits unloading by the excavator. 21 RT shunts a rake of GH's in the background.

  1. Excellent. Makes for a nice compact industry. Did you make the flat wagons. Thanks
