391/392 Skipton Goods

By the early 80's there was only two sources of traffic remaining on the Skipton line, Kaolin from the plant at Pittong and grain from the silos at Skipton. The only inwards loading at the time was superphosphate.

The 1982 Western and South-Western District Working Timetable had times for 3 conditional (as required) services to Skipton, Monday to Friday, 391/392, 393/396 and 395/398.

Train No.391 was scheduled to depart Ballarat at 06:35am, arriving at Skipton at 09:50am. The return journey, Train No. 392 was scheduled to depart Skipton at 10:35am arriving back in Ballarat at 2:25pm.

Y or T class were used on services on the Skipton line although up to the late 1970's W class were also used.

Although the Skipton line isn't part of the modelled section of the layout, Skipton line services are included as part of the operating sequence. Usually both 391/392 and 395/398 are included in the Mon to Fri operating sequence, one service running only to Pittong, the other through to terminus at Skipton.

Y152 departs Ballarat yard with 391 Skipton Goods. The train is short today, only 4 GY's and ZL van.

Y152 crosses Doveton Street level crossing with 391 Skipton Goods, included in the consist is GY904, one of the last GY's in service still in wagon red with yellow corner stripe.

Y152 returning from Skipton on train 392 runs past Ballarat C Box. The train of GH's is made up of scratch-built bodies on Steam Era Models underframes.
