On the 1st July 1983 the Victorian Railways was officially replaced by the Metropolitan Transport Authority and the State Transport Authority. Pending the establishment of the new logo for the STA, wagons repainted at the railway workshops were outshopped in standard colours but without any logo.
From the start of July to mid August 1983, the Ballarat North Workshops outshopped VLCX, VLEX, VOBX and VHGY wagons without the usual large VR logo. The workshops also released a BS car in orange with silver stripes but without the centrally placed VicRail tea-cup logo. I've replicated this on the layout by including a few freshly painted wagons without logo's either at the workshops or operating in revenue service, adding a little variety to the wagon fleet.
