Gillies Street Gates

Hand operated gates protected Gillies Street South near the end of the Ballarat Cattleyards Branch. These were situated just to the east of the cattle yards.

I build the two long sidings of the Ballarat cattle yard close to the backdrop, camouflaging where the sidings terminate with the gates.

The gates were built from 60 thou, 40 thou and 20 thou styrene. Pins were used for the metal bracing and hinges. Cattleyards will eventually fill the area of bare baseboards in the foreground. Y151 is a scratch-built body on a modified Athearn SW1000 mechanism.
